Who is David Irwin:

I am a business person who thrives on getting organizations to capture new opportunities.

A large portion of my work has been in business to business environments, particularly in the financial services vertical.  However, during MBA school I had a men's clothing business, and as a BCG consultant I worked in consumer marketing strategy.

Since 2002, I have been at Fiserv, a $5B leader in financial processing solutions.  At Fiserv I helped form the Fiserv Global Services unit (FGS) and work in it today.  I lead FGS's marketing and sales function, placing work into facilities in India and Costa Rica, and I have general management responsibility for the Costa Rica operation.  We are an information technology and business process outsourcing (BPO) provider.

Who am I not?

A Google search on "David Irwin" produces almost 50,000 hits.  Even adding my middle initial yields almost 300. Nearly all of them are NOT me.  I am not a musician, professor, programmer, or restaurateur, and probably would not be very good at any of these vocations.

Family

I am married to Kim Cooper Irwin, a former sales and marketing executive with Coca Cola and a fanatical booster of Duke Blue Devils basketball.  We have lived in Wisconsin since 2002 and we have two small children.

Other Places Lived

Growing up I lived in Houston, Southern California, France, and Chicago.  As an adult I have lived in Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, and Milwaukee.  I spent four great years in Hanover, New Hampshire while an undergraduate at Dartmouth and two years in Philadelphia during graduate school at Wharton.

Community Involvement

I have tried to always carve out a portion of my time, resources, and abilities for non-profit work.  In Atlanta I chaired the local advisory board of International Rescue Committee, a global NGO founded by Albert Einstein and based in New York.  I was most proud of organizing a fund raiser at the Atlanta History Center at which several "lost boys of Sudan" told their stories of war and resettlement in America.  In Milwaukee I serve on the board of directors of Centro Legal, a non-profit law firm serving low-income clients.

Globalism

In 2001 I was selected to participate in a five year program of the Council on Foreign Relations for younger professionals.  I value understanding world history and the global system of today.  The highlight of my time with the Council was visiting India with fifteeen peers, an experience that helped motivate me to become involved with India in my business life.
